The Accomplishers from Brno
17.August 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáAs we build up our centre, many experiences and good impressions come up. A few days ago, they condensed in the form of a cartoon, in English, to share with friends in the EC and KBL. Enjoy a teaser!
Brno is not boring!
17.August 2010, publikoval Dan ŠkvařilThe summer is culminating, so is our construction work. In addition to some more digging, we continued with our gabion baskets and air conditioning ducts. Most people went to EC, but we still had several people digging for a gas connection – just on the same place where we were filling in ditches for cabling two weeks ago. After digging a lot of earth, we also dug a few holes to the piping for a change. Wouldn’t it be boring to do everything right the first time?
Outdoors July
3.August 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáIn July, we also started our landscaping activities. Thus ladies could join in and also some friends from Prague came to help. Everybody is most welcome as our work goes on and on. With the sunny weather, we even mange to go swimming after work to a nearby swimming pool, which comes in handy after a day of digging, our most beloved activity.

15.July 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáJoyful June
14.July 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáWith summer and summer holidays, the Brno Joyful Course at the construction site started, offering a chance to bathe in one’s own sweat, play on all kinds of professions, drive excavators, pick slugs, build muscles carrying sand, digging earth and a lot more. We also had a grill party. If you did not manage to come, don’t worry, the joyful building party goes on! So why don’t you join in?
Lama Ole putting bumpas
14.July 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáA lot happened since the last Lama Ole’s visit in Brno, when only the foundation slab was at our construction site. This time we could already present the shell construction with plasters. And Lama Ole came to build up the power field by placing bumpas – vases with precious stones – to all four corners of the house to invite Buddhas of the four directions. Lama Ole expressed his thanks that instead of building our own houses for only a few people, we dedicate our time and surplus to the construction of a Buddhist centre which will benefit many.
Interior Workshops
14.July 2010, publikoval Dan ŠkvařilThe Diamond Way House construction is progressing fast. Most of the interior plasters are finished, so we need to talk about tiles, flooring colours, kitchen, etc. All kinds of details are discussed on weekend workshops. Everyone can become an architect and help make our future centre beautiful.
Tree felling permission granted
10.May 2010, publikoval lubosmachalaArborists helped us fell an ash in the garden, whose health was not good and prevented a beautiful linden from growing. After obtaining respective permission, our experts cut the tree down without damaging the house or the adjacent linden. Now we will have to dig out the stump. We have already started, but it will be rather difficult – the tree was growing on concrete, which will probably require a pneumatic drill.
Grill party
5.May 2010, publikoval Markétka BlažejovskáThe first May sunny Saturday was perfect for work – in the basement, in the house and in the garden. More than twenty boys and girls appeared on the site during the day. We were rewarded with an evening barbecue when we recalled the legendary garden parties at the yard of the kindergarten and we dreamt of the future – the vision of our new centre is coming to life. The first garden barbecue this year was a success and we are already looking forward to the next time!
